Old Wives Tails
It is so interesting to me that every custom we observe is rooted in practicality or superstition.
For example, in ancient China, firecrackers were used to scare demons away. In the same way, church bells served the same purpose.
Another interesting superstition holds that demons fear leather (hum, that’s interesting); the shoes tied to the back bumper of the bride & groom’s get away car will keep the couple from harm.
The list goes on and every so often I’ll share some with you.

Squam Lake
I am up in New Hampshire at beautiful Squam Lake. An unspoiled, pristine lake with great boating and fishing. I came up to help a dear friend with her daughter’s wedding at their summer home at Squam. It was a big success and everyone had a great time.
I am now spending some “quality” time with family at a log cabin in the woods near Squam. It is so peaceful and laid back. It is a time for reflection and to get in touch with myself. We lead such busy lives it is easy to get away from some of the more important things in life ~ good friends, loving family and the gift of time spent with them.
When I return, I will have recharged my batteries and be ready for the busy fall wedding season. I wish all of you a great rest of the summer and as my Dad always used to say: “Don’t hurry, don’t worry and don’t forget to smell the flowers”.
