Summer Fun

June 25th, 2009

An Elegant Affair just did a great wedding in downtown Raleigh.  Ceremony was at the Church of the Good Sheperd ~ a lovely old church with stained glass windows and dark beamed ceilings.  The reception was at the Capital City Club.

What made this wedding so much fun was the personalities of the bride & groom. They are a fun-loving couple and we wanted to convey this in the reception.  For a touch of whimsy, we had colorful pinwheels in a big wicker basket. The guests took one and everyone went downstairs (from the 21st floor) to line up and see the bride & groom off with pinwheels twirling.

Another big hit of the evening was the gelato machine.  We had 4 flavors of gelato: dark chocolate, mango, wild berry and margarita.  We had scoops for each flavor and miniature sugar cones.  Everyone loved it! The only place that I know of in the area that provides a gelato machine is Sugarland Bakery go to: www.sugarlandchapelhill.com

The other fun thing we did was provide ice cream sandwiches late in the evening.  Everyone had spent time dancing and this provided an infusion of sugar to keep the guests’ energy up!

All in all, with just a little imagination, we were able to come up with some unique ideas to create a wedding that reflected the couple’s fun personalities.
